August 18, 2009

The Full Story

Atlas International Freight Forwarding Inc., in Canada, has shipped a container of office furniture to the Department of Local Government, in collaboration with the Independent United Order of Solomon.
This is part of the on-going assistance to charity organisations, by the Management of Atlas International Freight, and the United Order. The furniture will be distributed by the Department.
Under the leadership of its Grand Master, Lloyd Seivright and the Deputy Grand Master, Derrick Lindsay, the Order has made similar donations in the past, not only to Jamaica, but to other developing countries around the world.
Consul General to Toronto, Anne-Marie Bonner, who toured the facilities of the shipping company, recently, said she welcomed “the public spiritedness of Atlas.”
“The support that they provide to organisations, such as the Independent United Order of Solomon, is great. Together, they are providing services and products that can strengthen our social services infrastructure in Jamaica,” she said.
Mrs. Bonner thanked the company for its assistance to Canadian-based charities, and also for its contribution to Jamaican farm workers, who have benefitted from special rates from Atlas, to ship personal effects home; and the Independent United Order of Solomon.
Ocean Freight Manager at Atlas Freight Forwarding Inc., Benny Pereira, assured the Consul General that Atlas would continue to work closely with the Jamaican Liaison Office and with the Consulate in Toronto to assist charities and farmers.
“Over the years, Atlas has facilitated Jamaicans in Canada to utilise our special and affordable rates to move shipments to Jamaica,” Mr. Pereira said. “In addition, we have also facilitated the collection, storage and transport of cargo, which is sent as donations to countries around the world, including Jamaica; and whether it is medical supplies; equipment, such as office furniture, or educational materials, we are always ready to assist,” he added.
