The Full Story

The resort town of Ocho Rios continues to record high cruise ship arrivals, with over 91, 000 passengers expected for the month of March.

Manager of the Ocho Rios Cruise Ship Terminal, Dennis Richards told JIS News, that 42 cruise ships were expected to arrive at the Ocho Rios and Reynold’s piers this month.

“This figure will be the highest in the island for the month”, he boasted.

Mr. Richards explained that initially, “we were expecting 45 ships, but we have had a few cancellations due to itinerary changes, so we are down to 42 ships for the month and this is still wonderful.”

He informed that Carnival and Royal Caribbean Cruise lines have brought in the most passengers and they have been very supportive of the country’s tourism industry over the years.

“These cruise lines make weekly calls to Jamaica and this is indeed very good in terms of our economy,” Mr. Richards told JIS News.
