NWC to Upgrade Sewage Mains on Ruthven and Camperdown Roads

The National Water Commission (NWC) will be conducting major upgrading work on its sewage mains located on Ruthven and Camperdown Roads in Kingston during the summer.
Addressing a recent JIS News Think Tank, Corporate Communications Manager at the NWC, Charles Buchanan, said that the works form part of the Commission’s continued thrust to improve sewage collection in the corporate area.
“We are going to be laying a new sewage main along Ruthven Road stretching from its intersection with Half-Way-Tree Road up to its intersection with Trafalgar Road,” he explained, adding that the work should be completed within the next six months.
In order to mitigate the likely inconveniences that motorists will face, Mr. Buchanan noted that extensive arrangements have been made for the implementation of a traffic management system.
In the meantime, he said the work to be undertaken on Camperdown Road, would address the problem of overflowing sewage. “The contractor has been mobilized and within a matter of days, work will begin,” he told JIS News. According to Mr. Buchanan “one of our main objectives in these particular projects is the issue of timing. We try to complete our projects during the summer when schools are out so that we can effectively carry out the work with the least inconvenience to our customers and also to the travelling public.”
