NSWMA gets $1.09 Billion to Purchase 77 Garbage Trucks

The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), has been allocated $1.09 billion to purchase 77 garbage trucks.
According to the 2008/09 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives, $7 million has also been allocated to facilitate improvement works at the Riverton City landfill.
A sum of $100 million has been set aside in the Estimates for the Local Government Department in the Office of the Prime Minister, to facilitate repairs to parochial roads damaged by flooding.
In the meantime, $15 million has been allocated to Parish Councils to facilitate the maintenance and rehabilitation of selected infirmaries islandwide.
An allocation of $5 million has also been set aside to facilitate the transportation of water to parishes that are experiencing severe drought conditions.
