No Classes in Eastern Parishes, Again Friday

Schools in the eastern parishes – Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Thomas, St. Mary and Portland – will remain closed Friday (November 5), due to the threat of Tropical Storm Tomas.

Students in eastern parishes will have another holiday today, due to Tomas threat.

Tropical Storm Tomas was expected to pass as close as 35 miles off the eastern end of Jamaica Thursday night, however, heavy rainfall was expected in these parishes from Thursday afternoon and continuing into Friday, as the storm passed.
The decision to close the schools was made by the Ministry of Education, on advice from the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) which is continuing to monitor the situation and will give updates, accordingly
