No access to Portmore Road

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) wishes to advise the public that the Jamaican Infrastructure Operator Limited (JIO) has reported that an unnamed gaseous substance is pervading from the port.

The ODPEM is strongly advising that motorist avoid this area in order to prevent substance inhalation.

Emergency responders, the Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB), the National Environmental Planning Agency (NEPA), the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) are currently carrying out investigations of the substance on the scene.

The JCF is cordoning off the following roadways:

·         Dawkins Drive

·         The North Dyke Road

The ODPEM will continue to inform the public as the situation demands.
