New Custos for St. Elizabeth to be Sworn in on September 23

The Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen, acting on the recommendation of Prime Minister, the Hon. Bruce Golding, will on Thursday September 23, install Mr. Wilfred Nembhard as Custos Rotulorum for the parish of St. Elizabeth.
The installation ceremony will be held at Independence Park, Black River starting at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony is open to the public, and guests are asked to be seated by 1:20 p.m.
A recipient of The Governor-General’s Achievement Award in 2005, Mr. Nembhard has been acting as Custos since the untimely passing of former Custos the Hon. Alfred Farquharson in April of this year.
Mr. Nembhard was appointed Custos by The Governor-General on September 1, and as Custos, he will be the representative of The Governor-General in St. Elizabeth. As part of his responsibilities, he will serve as Chief Magistrate for the parish, and ensure that there are sufficient Justices of the Peace to serve the Petty Sessions Court and communities throughout St. Elizabeth.
In preparation for the installation of the new Custos of St. Elizabeth, all Justices of the Peace for the parish are being asked to sign the Magistrates Roll which will be available at Manifest House, 39 Main Street, Santa Cruz from Tuesday September 7 to Wednesday September 22, 2010, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
