July 14, 2009

The Full Story

The Mona School of Business (MSB) will be hosting the Caribbean Business Renewal Conference on Friday (July 17), at the Knutsford Court Hotel, New Kingston.
Director, Professional Services Unit at MSB, Dr. William Lawrence, made the disclosure during an interview with JIS News on Monday (July 13).
The conference will be held under the theme ‘Providing Strategic and Sustainable Solutions for Public and Private Sector Organisations.’ It is geared towards helping these organisations to cope with the current global economic recession.
“We know that currently the challenges are not just financial. There are social, political and environmental challenges, as well, bringing pressures to bear on all organisations. This conference is intended to generate solutions, by bringing together the findings from recent research, coupled with recent experience of leading practitioners in both the public and private sectors,” Dr. Lawrence explained.
The conference package includes an assortment of information and tokens for participants. There are six topics to be covered: Business and Finance; Trade and Investment; Tourism and Marketing; Technology; Crime, Law and Justice; and Environmental and Sustainable Practices.
“We are expecting a very high impact, because of several reasons: it puts across disciplines and areas for both the private and public sectors, (and) it integrates political leaders who will be present and also leading practitioners and academics doing the research. So we are expecting workable actions, that participants can take forward for immediate use over the short, medium and long terms to improve organisational performance,” said Dr. Lawrence.
He noted that the target audience will be quite diverse.
“We are targeting all stakeholders in private and public sector organisations. Every person who wants to make a difference, in terms of the performance of their organisation, which accrues to the benefit of participants; wherever you are, this conference is for you,” Dr. Lawrence emphasised.
The target audience includes private and public sector leaders, senior managers, Information Technology specialists, entrepreneurs, business and school administrators, legal and justice system professionals, as well as tourism professionals.
The conference is scheduled to run from 9 am to 4:30 pm. Registration begins at 8:00 am. The cost is $15,000 for individuals, and there is a discount of $13, 500 per person for groups of three or more.
