MPs Urged to Make Good Use of CDF

July 29, 2009

The Full Story

Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Shahine Robinson, has urged Members of Parliament (MPs) to make good use of the resources provided under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), to give effective representation to their constituents.
Mrs. Robinson, who has portfolio responsibility for the Fund, was making her presentation to the 2009/10 Sectoral Debate yesterday (July 28) in the House of Representatives.
Crediting the CDF for enhancing the quality of life of her constituents in North East St. Ann during the past year, she cited infrastructural works carried out at Milford, Exchange, Shaw Park Heights, Eight Miles, Fern Gully, Orange Hill, Steer Town High, St. Ann’s Bay Primary, Ocho Rios High, and on the Higgins water supply system, among other projects.
“We have achieved a lot over the period, but there is still much more to be done,” she said.
She noted that the constituency faces a number of challenges, including lack of affordable housing solutions, inadequate or no water in some communities, and poor road conditions.
“However, these challenges are not insurmountable,” she said, while thanking the people of St. Ann North East for their patience, “as we continue to work together to make this the number one constituency in Jamaica,”
