This was announced by the Mayor of  Atlanta in the United States, Kasim Reed, as he addressed the Montego Bay  Chamber of Commerce and Industry expo ceremony, recently.

“I want to commit that we are going to increase the amount for medicine, as a result of your Mayor’s leadership, by 50 per cent for the visit next year.  By this way, the health mission will be empowered to reach and help a lot more persons,” Mayor Reed said.

He pointed out that as a result of the sister cities relationship, which was established over 20 years ago, some 45,000 Jamaicans have been the recipients of health care on an annual basis.

“Careful note has been made of the 20-year relationship that Atlanta and Montego Bay have shared as sister cities.  Probably the most important tie that we have is the health mission,” the Mayor said.
