Ministry of Finance Employee Faces Fraud Charges Today (Wednesday)

The Fraud Squad acting, on information provided by the Revenue Protection Division (RPD), on Monday (October 12) arrested and charged an employee of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) on several counts, including fraud and uttering forged documents, a release from the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service reported yesterday (October 13).
The Ministry said that the employee has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to defraud, one count of uttering forged documents and one count of obtaining money by means of forged documents. He has been remanded and is scheduled to attend court on Wednesday (October 14).
The Revenue Protection Division, re-established by the Government in June, 2008, falls under the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, and has as one of its mandates the identification, investigation and elimination of fraud and corruption within the public service.
