April 10, 2008

The Full Story

Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports Hon. Olivia Grange is to report to the Cabinet following meetings with the principals of radio station NewsTalk 93 FM.
The meetings held on Tuesday afternoon at the Ministry’s Corporate Offices, were related to the recommendation made by the Broadcasting Commission for the suspension of the broadcast licence of the radio station.
Minister Grange said: “This afternoon was devoted to consultations with the stakeholders involved in this matter, as part of the deliberative process.”
She said the issue will now be taken to the Cabinet as she moves to satisfactorily and conclusively determine the matter.
The Broadcasting Commission recommended the suspension of the licence following their determination that breaches of the Television and Sound Broadcasting Regulations occurred on January 2 during transmission of the programme ‘Ragashanti Live’.
