Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Audley Shaw, has lauded Scotiabank for providing capacity-building to over 200 business operators through its annual Vision Achievers Programme.
The Minister, who was delivering the keynote address at the 2018 closing ceremony for 25 participants in the initiative, held on (September 11) at Terra Nova Hotel in St. Andrew, said it provides another opportunity for increased growth in the Micro, Small And Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) sector.
Mr. Shaw said that the programme augurs well for the nation, noting that “when larger entities and indeed, financial providers, aid our smaller players to grow and expand it means more business for everyone.”
Since 2011, Scotiabank’s Vision Achievers Programme has been providing coaching to MSMEs, such as one-on-one consultations and assistance in creating effective business, marketing and financial plans.
“It is encouraging to see Scotiabank take the time to help with the development of these business practices. They have demonstrated their desire to see your business succeed,” Minister Shaw said.
He urged the business operators to put into practice the new skills learnt.
Scotiabank’s Vision Achievers is a 17-week programme, which provides training in sales, systemising business processes, marketing and understanding business financials.
It is open to any eligible business, including companies not aligned with the bank.
