Minister of Sports Lauds Performance of Jamaicans in Special Olympics in China

The Minister of Sports, the Honourable Olivia “Babsy” Grange has sent heartiest congratulations to Jamaica’s Special Olympics Team at the World Summer games in Shanghai, China.
“It is with great pride and joy, that I congratulate you for winning a total of nine medals so far.
“This is a very special day for us all and new experience as Jamaica looks forward to more successes for the remainder of the Games.
“I note that the Team has now won one Gold, one Silver and seven Bronze medals.
“Congratulations to Terry Burgess of Special Olympic Westmoreland for winning the men’s singles event in Bocce in a convincing fashion. Also to Lutherina Erskine for taking a Silver and Bronze in swimming and the other medal winners in swimming, Gavin Ogilvie, Leon Barclay and Kadian Ingleton. Congrats to the other medal winner, Cedric Mowatt for his Bronze in the Bocce men’s singles division.
“I had indicated to you before your departure to China to do your very best, even though you may not be successful in your attempts but you are being good ambassadors. You have done Jamaica proud.”
