Minister Bartlett Says $3 Billion for Mobay’s Tourism Development

Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, says that over $3 billion will be spent on upgrading sections of Montego Bay’s tourist attractions, this year.
This include: nearly $1 billion for inner city development; $750 million for the new tourism hospitality school; $435 million for the city’s hip strip; $250 million to create the ‘Elegant Corridor’ from the Sangster International Airport to the Trelawny border; and $40 million for the transport management programme in the city.
Mr. Bartlett was speaking Thursday night at the third Town Hall meeting hosted by Prime Minister the Hon. Bruce Golding, to discuss his Government’s 2009/2010 budget with the public. It was held at the Montego Bay Civic Centre.
Other speakers at the function included Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Audley Shaw; Minister of Water and Housing, Hon. Dr. Horace Chang; Member of Parliament for West Central St. James, Hon. Clive Mullings; and His Worship the Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Charles Sinclair. The function was chaired by Shallman Scott, a former Mayor of the City.
