Medical Personnel will be on Hand for Official Funeral Service

Some 50 health personnel will be on hand to provide medical support at the official funeral service of international sports icon, the Hon. Herb McKenley, OM, which takes place on December 8 at the National Arena, starting at 1:00 p.m.
The medical team is headed by Dr Marion Bullock Ducasse, Director of Emergency, Disaster Management and Special Services in the Ministry of Health.
“We will be looking after everybody including the elderly. We will have full medical coverage for all of the function and the burial,” said Member of the Organizing Committee for the funeral, Dr. Herbert Elliot at today’s (Dec. 5) JIS Think Tank.
In addition to the medical personnel, three ambulances will be on call during the proceedings.
Dr. Elliot said that water stops will be provided to keep attendees fully hydrated during the funeral and interment services, while special sanitary conveniences will be in place at the National Arena as well as National Heroes Park.
Additionally, the Ministry of Health has been engaged in intensive vector control activities in and around the National Arena and at National Heroes Park.
An official period of mourning of three days for Mr. McKenley will commence on December 6 and end on the day of his funeral on December 8.
Condolence books have been opened in Jamaica and all embassies and consulates overseas.
The outstanding athlete, sports administrator and coach, passed away on November 26 at the age of 85, leaving behind widow, Beverley and children.
