The Full Story

Custos of Manchester, Hon. Dr. Gilbert Allen, says that Mandeville is in the process of becoming a centre for quality health care in Jamaica.
He made the remark while addressing the official opening of Island Radiology, Caledonia Road, Mandeville, Manchester on Wednesday (July 15).
“This is a continuing process that will, in time, make Mandeville a prime centre for the delivery of modern high quality health care in Jamaica and, hopefully, the Caribbean,” Dr. Allen stated.
Citing the recently opened Hyacinth Chen School of Nursing, the upgraded Hargreaves Hospital and the rapidly expanding Mandeville Regional Hospital, he noted that they are significantly preventing persons from going elsewhere for health care.
“Mandeville offers easy access to nearly 500,000 people who are residents of Manchester, St. Elizabeth, Clarendon and parts of Trelawny. We deserve high quality health care, and we salute all those who strive to meet our needs, making it unnecessary for us to have to go out of town, or overseas, to access quality health care,” he said.
The facility offers diagnostic imaging in MRI, MDCT Scan, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, X-Rays, and selected interventional procedures.
Managing Director of Island Radiology, Dr. Ann Fenna, told JIS News that the technology at the Centre will offer tremendous advance in health care delivery.
“Our goal is to treat all who come across our doors with warmth respect and compassion, and to offer them the best in state-of-the-art imaging. Our doors will be open to students in the medical field, to come in and learn how the technology works, and further the progress of medicine,” she said.
