Manchester Health Department Observes Safer Sex Week

The Manchester Health Department (MHD) will be staging a series of community meetings in the parish from February 6 to 12, as part of activities to mark ‘Safer Sex Week’.

The first meeting will be held in the Greenvale community on February 7, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The Jamaica Information Service will assist in the staging of this event, which will involve the showing of documentaries on HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI).

There will also be entertainment by a local DJ, Mr Steel.

Various resource persons from the MHD will also be on spot to answer any questions that might be raised by members of the audience.

On Tuesday (Feb. 8) a condom vending machine will be set up at the Super Plus Mall in Mandeville and immediately following this activity, there will be a function at Bloomfield Great House to honour stalwarts in the fight against STIs and sponsors of World AIDS Day 2004.

The MHD has also scheduled a special training session for some 10 individuals, who will be distributing condoms in their communities.
