Local Government Ministry to Launch Citizen’s Charter on Friday

November 25, 2004

The Full Story

In keeping with government’s thrust to improve service delivery and performance in the public sector, the Ministry of Local Government, Community Development and Sport will launch its Citizen’s Charter on Friday (Nov. 26), at its Hagley Park Road offices in Kingston, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
This comes against the Prime Minister’s mandate to state agencies in 1994, that they devise Citizen’s Charters outlining the customer service standards to be delivered. The purpose of the document is to ensure the highest possible standard of service to the customer.
The Ministry of Local Government has now completed its charter in keeping with the Prime Minister’s mandate and will conduct periodic reviews following implementation.
Since 1994, 79 ministries and agencies have developed Citizen’s Charters while the process is underway in 23 others.
