Late Filmmaker’s Movie to be Shown at Miami Int’l Festival

‘No Place Like Home’ a film produced by the late Jamaican director Perry Henzell, will have its United States premier at the 24th annual Miami International Film Festival, now underway in downtown Miami.
Mr. Henzell’s film is among 112 others selected for the annual festival, which began last Friday (March 2) and runs through to Sunday (March 12).
Films from more than 60 countries will be screened, including 92 features and short movies, eight world premieres and 31 international films.
‘No Place Like Home’ was released in Jamaica last December, a month after Henzell had passed away following a period of illness.
Nearly two hours long, the movie traces the journey of a New York television producer and a local taxi driver as they delve deep into the heart of Jamaica. The film is a dramatic piece with English subtitles.
Among the noted filmmaker’s credits is the 1970s movie ‘The Harder They Come’, which was made in Jamaica and utilized some local talent, including reggae icon, Jimmy Cliff, who played the lead role.
