Land Donated to Construct Health Centre in Whitehouse

January 31, 2007

The Full Story

The community of Whitehouse in Westmoreland could be getting a new health care facility soon, as the Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA) has been granted permission to construct a health centre on a two-acre plot of land in the community. The property was donated by developers Tropical Sunshine Properties Limited.
A delegation comprising Acting Regional Director for the WRHA, Dr. Alexander Konstantinov; Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for Westmoreland, Dr. Kyaw Tint; Chairman of the Whitehouse Community Development Committee, Bishop Lloyd Samuels; and Member of Parliament for Eastern Westmoreland, Luther Buchanan, recently toured the site.
Dr. Alexander Konstantinov, expressed joy on the receipt of the letter granting permission for the health service to occupy the land, noting that the existing facility was too small to accommodate staff and patients and there was no land space for expansion.
He further welcomed the collaboration between the community and the health sector and pledged to work to ensure that the health centre was planned and constructed in the shortest possible time.
Dr. Tint, for his part, said he hoped that the project would get underway soon, while Mr. Buchanan added that he too anxiously awaited the ground breaking for the project, and the opening of the new facility.
