KSAC Taking Legal Action Against Companies for Non Payment of Advertising Fees

The Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC), is bringing legal action against several companies, which owe the city in excess of $50 million in advertising fees.
This was stated by Mayor of Kingston, Senator Desmond McKenzie, at a joint press briefing with the Inland Revenue Department, at the KSAC’s Church Street offices yesterday (August 4).
“That is just a conservative figure…all of these companies are advertising free of cost, and they are not paying the city,” the Mayor said.
The companies include: Mothers; all branches of Appliance Traders Limited auto and technical centres; Tropical Roofing and Windows; Pre-mix Concrete; Jamaica Flour Mills; Crowne Hotel and Institution; EML Glass company; Alex Import Auto Parts and Sales; Yummy Bakery; Crooks and Greaves Company; National Baking Company; Air Jamaica; Caribbean Broilers; Khemlani Group of Companies (Manor Centre, King Street, Tropical Plaza); all stores in Tropical Plaza, except Royal Jewellers, Lees, RBTT, American Jewellers; Delta Supplies Company Limited; Phil’s Hardware; all outlets of Rapid Tru-Value; Marathon Betting Company; Big A-Track Company Limited; National Supplies; Summit Betting Company; Henkel Jamaica Limited; American Awnings Company Limited; Rainbow Awning; and Tropicair.
“All of these companies continue to owe the KSAC millions of dollars in fees for advertising and this list was handed to the KSAC lawyers with instructions to take immediate action against these companies to bring them in line with the terms of their obligations to the municipality,” the Mayor pointed out.
