JUTC Offers Park and Ride Service for Golden Jubilee Village

July 30, 2012

The Full Story

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will be offering a 'Park & Ride' service for the Jamaica 50 Golden Jubilee Village, at Independence Park, from August 1 to 6.

The transformation of the main stadium car park into a Jubilee Village has made it necessary to establish the park and ride locations for patrons attending the activities as there will be no public parking around the area.

Park and ride locations will be at King’s House east grounds, Up Park Camp (Duppy Gate entrance) and Jamaica College (JC).

At Jamaica College, the west field will be used for parking, with entrance at the gate opposite the Chinese Benevolent Association. All access to the site will be from Hope Road.

All locations will open from 12 noon to 1:00 a.m. daily except for JC, which will open on August 1, 2, 5 and 6 only.

Parking areas will be reserved for persons with disabilities at the King’s House Park and ride site. A bus equipped with a wheel chair lift will operate between this location and Independence Park, as required.

The shuttle service cost will be $200 round trip for adults and children 11 years and under will ride free. Buses will arrive at 10 to 20 minute intervals, depending on traffic conditions.

For further information on the JUTC’s park and ride, for the Jubilee Village, persons may call the JUTC toll free number at 1-888-588-2287 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on weekdays; and between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on weekends and on the public holidays.
