With $340,000 to be won, to date, no winners have been identified in the Jamaica Urban Transit Company’s (JUTC) Big Money Prize Promotion. Commuters are being encouraged to retain their tickets and to check the Monday Star and the JUTC website at www.jutc.com each week, to see if they have the winning numbers.
Holders of adult tickets should “check the tickets they have, and match the ticket number, Customer Service Agent (CSA) number and date and time on the ticket. The answer is in the Monday Star,” Marketing and Public Relations Manager at the JUTC, Gwyneth Davidson told JIS News.
The first prize in the promotion, which is now in its fourth week and will end on June 30, stands at $200,000. The JUTC will be awarding cash prizes to 12 randomly selected purchasers of adult tickets, weekly.
“Every week we have $190,000 in prizes,” said Mrs. Davidson. If there are no winners in a given week, the prize is carried forward to the following week.In outlining the allocation of the prizes, Mrs. Davidson indicated that weekly first prize winners would be awarded $50,000.00, while second and third place ticket holders would receive $30,000 and $20,000, respectively. Commuters who are fourth to twelfth place ticket holders will receive $10,000 each.
Mrs. Davidson pointed out that tickets are valid for one week only, and that draws take place on Friday mornings. Each draw, she noted, would include all the tickets from the previous Friday up to the Thursday immediately preceding the draw date.
“Our ticketing system is an electronic one, so for every ticket that is sold, there is a record of it in our computer system,” she explained.
“Every week we run a random selection through our database, [which] would generate twelve tickets randomly,” Mrs. Davidson continued.
Commuters who use the JUTC services also have a chance to win prizes from Cable and Wireless, who are partners in the promotion. “If persons send a text to 444-4204 at Bmobile, and their tickets come up in the top three, they will also get Cable and Wireless cellular phone prizes,” Mrs. Davidson pointed out.
The JUTC drivers and conductors have not been excluded from the benefits. “Because we realize that our bus crew are important to the promotion,” said Mrs. Davidson, “whenever one of the top three winners comes in with a winning ticket, the conductor who sold that ticket will also get a cash prize and the driver will get Bmobile credit”.
Winners may claim their cash prizes by submitting their winning tickets, with the JUTC slogan ‘Your Route to Excellence’ written on the back, at the Lyndhurst Road Depot or at the JUTC Corporate Office in Twickenham Park, St. Catherine.
Adding that the promotion is the JUTC’s way of “connecting with our commuters, ” Mrs. Davidson encouraged commuters to visit the company’s website for more details of the promotion as well as vital information on the services that are offered by the JUTC.
