JPS Continues Efforts to Restore Power to Customers

October 1, 2010

The Full Story

The Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd (JPS) has continued its efforts to restore power to customers affected by outages caused by the lightning and heavy winds associated with Tropical Storm Nicole. The Company’s emergency teams have been working in all parishes to restore the just under 100,000 customers who remained without power up to this morning.
JPS estimates that most of the affected customers will have their power restored by late this evening, but confirms that some customers will still be without power at the end of the day due to challenges faced in the restoration process. These include: downed poles and inaccessibility caused by blocked roads, landslides and waterlogged areas.
JPS asks customers for their patience and understanding, as it continues to make every effort to restore supply at the earliest time possible.
