Journalists Must Be Accredited For Grand Gala

July 10, 2012

The Full Story

Journalists are being reminded that they will need to be accredited to cover the Independence Grand Gala at the National Stadium on August 6.

The Jamaica Information Service (JIS) is the agency responsible for media accreditation for the event, and the agency’s Director of Production, Enthrose Campbell, said that persons without accreditation “will not be allowed to record, whether it’s television, radio, print or photo”.

Accreditation forms are posted on the JIS' website. Persons may download the forms and have them signed by their Editor-in-Chief or other responsible authority. The forms must be submitted by July 26. They may be faxed to 754-4051.

Miss Campbell said that to be accredited, journalists must be aligned to a media house, as due to the large media contingent expected “we will not be able to just accredit one person to come and take shots". It is anticipated that 300 journalists locally and internationally, will cover the event.

The press is also being reminded that no one will be allowed on the stadium tracks or on the grass. There will be a designated area for the press.

Miss Campbell informed that arrangements have been made with the Creative Production and Training Centre (CPTC) to provide feed for all media houses.

"We are going to have CPTC shooting and everybody will take feed from them – that is radio and TV. Nobody is going to be allowed to set up their own cameras. We’re taking feed from the persons hired to do that job," she said.
