The Full Story

Minister of State for Tourism, Entertainment and Culture, Dr. Wykeham McNeill, has urged job seekers to develop their own brand, noting that individual or business success is based on the ability to “win the confidence of those who want what you have to offer”.
“You all here need to develop ‘brand you’,” Dr. NcNeill stated, noting that the successful application of this strategy will rest on one’s ability to grasp at available opportunities, work at their natural attributes and be strategic in promoting what they have to offer.
“Today, we are not only living in a ‘brand new world’, but we are also in a ‘new brand world’. Today it’s all about branding,” Dr. McNeill stated, as he addressed the third annual job readiness seminar put on by the Hospitality, Health and Creative Studies Department of the Montego Bay Community College today (June 1) at the Half Moon Conference Centre.
Noting the importance of branding in the international business environment, he noted that “all kinds of products and services, from accounting firms to sneaker makers, to restaurants, are figuring out how to transcend the narrow boundaries of their categories and become a brand.” Brand Jamaica, he noted was highly recognized around the world.
