JDF Gets $7.3 Billion to Purchase Aircraft and Equipment

The Government will be spending $7.3 billion in the new fiscal year to facilitate the acquisition of aircraft and equipment for the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).
This is outlined in the 2019/20 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.
The Estimates were tabled in the House of Representatives on February 14 by Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr. the Hon. Nigel Clarke.
Of the money, $3.55 billion will go towards the purchase of equipment for the Coast Guard, while the remaining $3.749 billion will be used to purchase aircraft.
The sum will be provided from the Consolidated Fund.
The Estimates will be considered by the Standing Finance Committee of the House from March 4 to 5.
