JBDC Launches Line of Licensed Products for CWC 2007

February 27, 2007

The Full Story

The Jamaica Business Development Centre (JBDC) launched its line of licensed products for the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2007 on February 22, at the Things Jamaican Devon House outlet.
Through its Things Jamaican brand, the JBDC was granted a licence by the ICC to commission, distribute and market official ICC CWC 2007 licensed products. Under this agreement, Things Jamaican will act as an ‘umbrella’ for 25 small local producers with over 70 high quality authentic Jamaican products, ranging from gift to souvenir items, which will be available in all Things Jamaican outlets.
In his remarks at the launch, Executive Director of the JBDC, Harold Davis noted that the agreement provided a market opportunity for the numerous micro and small business operators, who would not have met the cost and other particulars required to sell licensed products.
The whole idea behind the licensed items is “getting quality products to a demanding and discerning public and proving to the market that Jamaican micro and small business producers can produce consistently high quality gifts and craft solutions”, the Executive Director added.
Things Jamaican stocks retail exclusive authentic Jamaican products, primarily hand made by artisans. The shops offer a collection of products influenced by Jamaican music, culture and history. Emphasis is placed on products suited to vacationers, travellers and include fashion and accessories, decorative accessories, gifts and souvenirs.
The licensed items will be available at all Things Jamaican locations, including the JBDC corporate showroom on Camp Road in Kingston; Devon House; Sangster and Norman Manley International Airports; Super Plus Supermarket, New Kingston and the Marina at Port Antonio in Portland. The products will also be available in hotel gift shops as well as key souvenir stores islandwide.
