She noted that the Administration will work with the US government “to see that the Jamaican people receive some support and expertise from our office so that they can help develop imports and exports.” She indicated that the assistance to the JBDC will become available within the next couple of months.
In her remarks, Chief Executive Officer of JBDC, Valerie Viera, said the signing ceremony is a very important day in the life of her organization. The association, she said, will enable the JBDC to benefit from information and experience to benefit the island’s small business sector.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Anthony Hylton, in his remarks, noted that the relationship will assist the Jamaican small business sector to tremendously improve its export capabilities.
United States Ambassador to Jamaica, Brenda LaGrange Johnson and Ambassador to the United States, Professor Gordon Shirley, also commended both organizations for coming together to assist Jamaica’s small businesses. They pointed out that this is an important signal of co-operation between the two organizations, which will no doubt lead to job creation and economic growth.
