JA/USA Chamber of South Florida to Attend Trade Expo in Mo-Bay

The Jamaica/USA Chamber of Commerce in South Florida will be among participants at the annual conference and trade expo of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce, to be held from October 8 to 10 at the Montego Freeport.
Dubbed ‘Expo 2004 – The Trade Fair of the Caribbean’, the event is geared towards the development of trade relations in a global environment.
President of the Chamber, Marie Gill, who will lead the delegation of some 10 members, indicated that the mission was a fact-finding one.Members will look for opportunities to create new partnerships with other participating bodies, both locally and internationally, as well as promote their individual businesses in the South Florida region.
Workshops and seminars will create fora to further develop trading relations as well as look at current issues affecting trade and commerce in the region.Traditionally, participants to the expo have included exhibitions in the areas of manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, art and craft, financial services and information technology and other service-related industries.
The members, according to Miss Gill, have also expressed interest in looking at business opportunities in the broader Cornwall county in Jamaica, in the areas of agriculture and construction, with a view to providing some form of rebuilding assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.
A Jamaican national, Miss Gill is President of MGill & Associates, a USA consulting firm that helps small and minority entrepreneurs in business development.
