Jamaicans in Tri-State Area Benefit from RGD Services

Jamaicans in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are benefiting from the outreach services of the Registrar General’s Department (RGD).
The outreach, which began on (Nov. 28) at the First Presbyterian Church of Orange in New Jersey, will continue today (Nov. 29) at the Freedom Hall Church in Brooklyn from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and at the West Indian Social Club in Hartford, Connecticut on Friday (Nov. 30), also from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.In addition to these sessions, the RGD team will be at the Consulate General in New York between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. today and Friday.
The services being provided include on-site processing of applications for birth, death, deed poll and marriage certificates, general record updating, and genealogical searches.
Chief Executive Officer of the RGD, Dr. Patricia Holness, who is leading the team, is encouraging Jamaicans, especially those not able to utilize the agency’s on-line service, to take full advantage of these one-on-one meetings.
The tri-state is the final stop in the RGD’s United States outreach tour, which began in South Florida on November 19 with stops in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Jamaicans in Atlanta also benefited from the services of the RGD.
