Jamaican Pavilion scored big at Americas Food and Beverage Show

The showcase of products at the ‘Jamaican Pavilion’ brought favourable comments from the nearly 6,000 participants at the 14th annual Americas Food and Beverage Show held October 26-27 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Florida.
For the first time, a range of foods and beverages decorated the eight booth spaces, giving the Jamaican products proper national identification, adorned in the colors of the National Flag, at the Expo billed as the largest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere.
The Jamaican products were among nearly 300 exhibits from 27 countries in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean and Latin American region.

Participants view a range of manufactured products at the ‘Jamaican Pavilion’ creating quite a buzz at the 14th annual Americas Food and Beverage Show at the Miami Beach Convention Center Tuesday and Wednesday (October 26-27). Eight Jamaican companies occupied the prime booth location, which formed the Jamaican Pavilion at the event which attracted some 6,000 local and international food professionals, retailers and distributors.

Speaking to JIS News, JAMPRO’s Export Promotion Manager, Berletta Forrester, said that she was pleased with the overwhelming response to the Pavilion, as the objective was to showcase Jamaica through its small, medium and large enterprises.
The items enjoyed significant visibility, gaining particular interest from the French Caribbean participants, an indication that Jamaica was moving into new areas of marketing.
Exotic Jamaican flavours and samples of beverages included coconut water, juices, coffees and teas, alcoholic beverages as well as items from indigenous food products comprising sauces and condiments, packaged meals, snacks and agro-processed foods.
Creation Foods, a newcomer to the Expo, displayed a variety of cereals derived from grains, some indigenous to Jamaica.

“Our peanut porridge made from our homegrown peanuts was a crowd pleaser” according to Naomi Morris, General Manager of Creation Foods.
Like all the other businesses, the primary objective was to seek overseas markets, while increasing visibility; and Mrs. Morris indicated that she was pleased with the favourable response.
Another first time exhibitor, Worthy Park Estate, introduced their newest label – Rum Bar white overproof and gold rums. According to spokesperson Keesha Nesbeth, the exhibition generated positive leads which could help to facilitate the opening of a distribution centre in South Florida.
Mrs. Forrester expressed satisfaction with the organizers of the yearly Food Expo and the World Trade Center located in Miami. Likewise, President of the Center, Charlotte Gallogy, commended the efforts of JAMPRO and its team of exhibitors.
“This year we worked very closely with the organizers, and our partnership has resulted in increased and improved presence, with greater visibility for our Jamaican products, as we were able to showcase a range of new and varied products” Mrs. Forrester noted.
The Jamaican contingent of exhibitors also included BnRs Holdings, displaying their award winning Jamaica Jerk label, with a variety of flavoured sauces and condiments.
LASCO displayed a variety of milk products, while Wisynco exhibited a variety of juices. Other enterprises included Grace Foods, The Jerk Place and Restaurant Limited, and Coffee Solutions, all showcasing indigenous food products.
Jamaica’s Consul General, Sandra Grant Griffiths, who participated in the Expo, congratulated the winning team from BnRs Holdings. She also commended the Jamaican team, which has grown indicating an interest in Jamaica gaining its fair share of the overseas market.
The Consul General thanked the JAMPRO team for its efforts in showcasing the Brand Jamaica label, through its very impressively designed and effective booth display at the ‘Jamaica Pavilion’, giving Jamaican foods significant visibility.
