Jamaica showcased its best and most unique experiences to lovers of luxury travel at the four-day Luxury Travel Fair held at the Olympia in London.
The country’s team at the four-day fair, which comprised the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Jamaica Trade and Invest and Grand Lido, which is part of the SuperClubs Group, promoted destination Jamaica as well as explored new investment opportunities for the island’s tourism industry.
District Sales Manager for the JTB UK and Europe, Torrance Lewis, told JIS News that the country made a strong impression at the event, which ended on June 30.
Showcased were a wide-cross section of luxury travel experiences that visitors to the island can now experience including world-class spas, golf courses, cuisine and attractions, while patrons were offered a sample of some of the island’s unique and famously aged blended rums from the Appleton Estate.
According to Mr. Lewis, the luxury sector is being developed as a new growth area for the local travel industry and several new developments are planned for the main resorts areas in Jamaica.
“It is reasonable to say that the luxury sector/segment is growing and more new luxury developments are planned for example the Palmyra, Iberostar and Harmony Cove. Part of the overall growth strategy is to position the destination as an aspirational destination, and luxury resorts and services such as the private jet terminal in Montego Bay are key to attracting this clientele,” he noted. The Luxury Travel Fair is the only UK event for connoisseurs of luxury travel. It showcases authentic experiences, exotic cultures and fresh ideas.
