During the week of October 23 to October 29 the Jamaica Association of Public Health Inspectors (JAPHI) will celebrate its 59th anniversary under the theme, ‘Professional Development In The Face Of Global Environmental Health Challenges’.
To mark this milestone, Public Health Inspectors in the parish of St. Ann have planned several activities to increase the awareness of the public in relation to the role and function of Public Health Inspectors.
“We will be engaging in a number of planned activities both locally and nationally,” Chief Public Health Inspector for the St. Ann Health Department, Granville McKenzie, told JIS News.
The week’s activities, he said, would include an exhibition at the St. Ann’s Bay Parish Library on Monday, October 24 through to Saturday, October 29. In addition, public education meetings are slated to be held in communities within Ocho Rios and Discovery Bay as well as in schools throughout the parish.
He also informed that JAPHI’s Annual Conference would be held at Sunset Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios on October 25 to October 27, noting that the Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony would be held on October 26.
Mr. McKenzie used the opportunity to appeal to the members of the public to come out and support the St. Ann Public Health Inspectors, as they sought to promote a healthy lifestyle within the parish.
