Infirmaries Being Rehabilitated – Minister Peart

July 30, 2006

The Full Story

The Ministry of Local Government and Environment is currently in discussions with Food for the Poor to effect repairs to the Hanover Infirmary.
Minister Dean Peart, who disclosed this last week during his contribution to the Sectoral Debate, said rehabilitation work is also being carried out on the St. Thomas Infirmary. “Contracts are out to tender for the Westmoreland and St. James infirmaries. In addition, a comprehensive needs analysis is being done on all infirmaries across the island,” he informed.
Meanwhile the Minister announced that all zonal contracts have come to an end as of June 30. “However to facilitate the opening up of the tender process we have extended these contracts. We are now preparing contract documents and should be able to go to tender next month. This will enable contractors to purchase their own vehicles as the Government will not be providing trucks to these contractors,” Mr. Peart stated.
