June 14, 2007

The Full Story

The HEART Trust/NTA has trained 295,000 persons as of March 2006 and with an annual enrolment approaching 100,000, the agency will attain its target of certifying 600,000 members of the workforce by the end of 2008.
This was disclosed by Minister of Education and Youth, Maxine Henry Wilson, during her contribution to the 2007/08 Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on June 12.
In the meantime, she informed that the HEART Trust is collaborating with the Ministry to provide work-based training and certification for grades 10 and 11 students to complement the Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate.
“This is to better facilitate over 40,000 secondary school leavers who wish to make the transition from school to work each year,” Mrs. Henry Wilson explained.
