Sports Minister Olivia Grange, has expressed satisfaction with the Jamaican football team’s result from tonight’s Semi-Final World Cup Qualifier against Canada. The Reggae Boyz rallied to secure a 1-1 draw and in the process, gained a valuable point.
Minister Grange, who is in Beijing, China, for the Olympic Games, said the result sat nicely with Jamaica’s other sporting achievements, including Usain Bolt and Melaine Walker’s record runs in Beijing.
“Sports is doing the talking for us in Jamaica. We are in a purple patch and we are seizing the moment. Our performances have brought smiles to all Jamaican faces and I am hoping that the standards we set and the traditions we establish will be carried on through generations.”
“Even though I am in Beijing I was able to keep track of the game and my heart was fully with the team. These results challenge all our sportsmen and women to ride the wave that is rocking Jamaica’s way at the moment.”
