Governor-General to be Knighted by the Queen

Buckingham Palace has formally announced, that The Queen, has approved the submission for His Excellency the Most Honourable Dr. Patrick Linton Allen, ON, CD, Governor-General of Jamaica, to be Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George (GCMG). He will be knighted on June 12, 2009.
Consequently, the Governor-General shall be styled “His Excellency the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen, ON, GCMG, CD” and his spouse shall be styled “Her Excellency the Most Honourable Lady Allen.”
His Excellency was sworn into office on February 26, 2009 as the sixth Governor-General of Jamaica. Since taking office, His Excellency has adopted the ‘I Believe’ concept and has begun the journey to motivate Jamaicans and in particular the youth, to believe in their ability to achieve, and to participate in building a strong nation.
At his inauguration, the Governor-General stated unreservedly that, “I believe there is nothing wrong with Jamaica that cannot be fixed by what is right with Jamaica.” He called on Jamaicans to embrace values such as respect, fairness, punctuality, forgiveness, sharing and caring, in order to build a kind and just society.
