G-G Commends Fosrich for Helping Customers save Energy

Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen, has lauded FosRich Group of Companies for introducing innovative electrical products to the local market to assist in energy conservation.

He noted that these items have helped to reduce energy costs for costumers and the country on the whole.

“Energy conservation is a key element in sustainable development. Jamaica depends on imported petroleum to meet 95 per cent of our energy needs, of which electricity-generation accounts for 31 per cent. This is where companies like FosRich can make a real contribution by providing consumers with items and products that will facilitate the reduction of energy consumption,” the Governor-General said.

He was speaking at the opening of the FosRich Group of Companies’ 2018 Electrical Exposition at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston on June 14.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Cecil Foster, said the objective of the expo was to expose Jamaicans to innovations that are revolutionising construction, government, business and industry, and tourism, among other sectors.

“We (feel) we have a responsibility to bring the best product innovations that meet the needs of the market in Jamaica. We will also demonstrate how these innovations can positively impact the building, construction and energy sectors of our country,” he said.

FosRich partnered with global producer of energy-efficient technologies, Siemens and leader in advanced cabling and connectivity solutions, Nexans to stage the expo.

It involved exhibitions of electrical products and workshops, which were attended by over 300 participants, including architects, builders, representatives from business and industry, students and faculty members from technical and tertiary institutions as well as representatives of government and other sectors.

The workshops examined topics such as intelligent motor control; cable solutions to ensure reliability of energy network; solar energy infrastructure; Sirius innovation; and reliable, easy to install and fire-safe cable solutions for residential, industrial and public buildings.
