Funeral Service for McKenley Begins at 1:00 P.M.

The official funeral service for the late sports hero, Hon. Herb McKenley, OM, will take place at the National Arena on Saturday, December 8, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Mr. McKenley, who was awarded the Order of Merit in 2004, died on November 26 at age 85. He will be buried in National Heroes Park.
Guests attending the service are asked to be seated by 11:45 a.m. There will be a musical tribute to Mr. McKenley prior to the start of the service. En route to the National Arena, Mr. McKenley’s body will be transported from Sam Isaacs Funeral Home on Hanover Street, along North Street, left on to South Camp Road, on to Camp Road, right along Tom Redcam Avenue, right on to Arthur Wint Drive and then into the National Arena.
Following the service, the funeral procession will travel from the National Arena on to Arthur Wint Drive, left along Tom Redcam Avenue, right on to Caledonia Avenue, on to Marescaux Road and then into National Heroes Park. Mr. McKenley has been described as one of the most outstanding 400-metre runners. He leaves behind widow, Beverley and four children. Media personnel covering the funeral service are requested to get accredited through the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), beginning today (December 5). Accreditation forms have already been sent to the media houses. They are also available on the JIS website at www.jis.gov.jm.
