Jamaica’s Consul General to Miami, Ricardo Allicock will deliver the keynote address at the 10th Annual Dinner and Dance of the William Knibb High School Alumni Association (South Florida Chapter) on Saturday, October 16 at the Inverrary Country Club in Fort Lauderdale.
Past students from across the United States and Jamaica are expected to attend the event.
President of the Association, Teslyn Wallace-Takacs told JIS News that the group was aiming to raise over US$5,000 from this event to refurbish the school’s library, which was in urgent need of repair.
She said the association was committed to the project and every effort would be made to ensure that the library was refurbished as soon as possible, adding that this would go a far way to assist the students in their studies.
Mrs. Wallace-Takacs noted that from last year’s dinner and dance, a contribution of US$5,000 was made to the institution. She said the Chapter was hoping that the event this weekend would surpass last year’s contribution to the school.
