Former Residents of Trelawny get Together in New York May 28 – 30

Persons from Trelawny who are residing in the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, and the United States, will gather in New York from May 28 to 30, for the 29th annual re-union weekend.
The event is organised by the Friends of Trelawny Association (FOTA), and is expected to bring together over 3,000 former residents on the Memorial Day weekend holiday in the United States.
Activities for the weekend will begin on May 26 with the annual ‘heat in the place’ fete, which will be held at Chef Orchid, Building 14 at JFK Airport in Queens, Jamaica, New York.
On Saturday, May 29, the Annual Trelawny Business Symposium will be held at the JFK Holiday Inn Hotel. General Manager of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC), Joyce Douglas will deliver the keynote address, while panelists will include Falmouth’s Mayor, Colin Gager; Senator Dennis Meadows; representatives of Royal Cruise Lines and Ideas, as well as Vice President and General Manager of Scotia Jamaica Building Society, Gladstone Whitelocke. Following the symposium, the annual general meeting and election of a new board of FOTA will take place.
The activities will climax on Sunday, May 30 with the staging of the 29th anniversary picnic at the Anthony Wayne Recreation Park. There will be various sporting activities, such as soccer, volleyball, cricket and dominoes. This year’s re-union is being sponsored by Scotia Bank, Western Union, Royal Cruise Lines, Jamaica Pegasus, Breezes Resort, Fish Eye Bar and Grill, GraceKennedy, People’s Choice Furniture and Western Union.
