Jamaican and Floridian public and private sector entities with similar interests will have a chance to network and expand trade opportunities at this year’s Building Bridges, Florida-Jamaica Trade Mission and Partnering Fair to be held in Broward County at the Fort Lauderdale Convention centre from June 8-9.The Fair, a yearlong programme of events designed to take advantage of the historical links between Jamaica and Florida, is the brainchild of United States Ambassador Sue Cobb.
The partners are, Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ), the Jamaica Exporters Association, (JEA) and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).
The occasion will include presentations on doing business in Jamaica and Florida and will provide an opportunity for businesses to showcase their products and services with a focus on matchmaking between small and medium sized business prospects. A number of optional events will continue to SaturdayJune 12.
With regards to the matchmaking process, JAMPRO will send a profile detailing the contact information, business type and the desired relationship sought by each Jamaican company to be used to match Floridian prospects. Each Jamaican company will also receive a profile of the US prospects. On the day of the meetings there will be opportunities for one on one contact and networking.
United States Ambassador Sue Cobb, speaking at yesterday’s (March 8) official launch of the event at JAMPRO’s, headquarters in Kingston, said the venture targeted small and medium sized businesses and promised to be interesting. She said it was hoped that the programme appealed to small and medium sized businesses in Jamaica as it provided an opportunity to establish contacts that could be advantageous in the future.
Companies wishing to register can do so at JAMPRO and are required to pay a US$200 registration fee, which is non-refundable.
