Finance Minister Reassures US Investors

Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Audley Shaw, is currently in the United States to interact with the business community in Miami and New York, as well as Jamaican residents in the two major US cities.
The Minister’s itinerary includes keynote presentations at two forums on ‘Economic Imperatives for 2009: Outlook for the Future’, organised by Jamaica National Building Society in each city. He will also hold private discussions with executives from the Americas Society and Council of the Americas (AS/COA), as well as representatives of Chevron Corporation.
Mr. Shaw will provide an update on the economic challenges facing the nation in the wake of the international economic crisis. He will also highlight the measures being implemented to achieve stability, attract investment and generate growth and development.
The Minister left the island on June 3 and returns on June 8.
