The Ministry of Education shares in the grief now being experienced by the family of Jeremiah Yson, a grade four student at St. Peter and Paul Preparatory School, who died yesterday (Thursday, March 17) under tragic circumstances. The Ministry extends condolences to the teachers, administrative staff and the entire school family as they mourn the loss of one of their students.  Jeremiah died when a goal post fell on him while he was playing with other students.

A team of counsellors from the Ministry will be at the school today (Friday, March 18) to offer counselling and emotional support to students, teachers and administrative staff, who have been affected by this incident. The counsellors will also offer support to the family of young Jeremiah.

The incident underscores the importance of security and safety and the need for school administrators to ensure that the school plant is safe for students.

The  Ministry of Education continues to insist that all schools adhere to the standards set out in the Security and Safety Policy.
