Early Retirement Incentive for ISCF Members

KINGSTON — Cabinet has approved incentive payment to facilitate early retirement of selected members of the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF).

Providing additional details at on December 7 post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, Minister of National Security, Hon. Dwight Nelson, said payments not exceeding two year’s salary over and above normal separation entitlements, will be offered.

"This payment is to encourage early retirement as one means where the force may be renewed and rejuvenated in the national interest,” he stated.

He informed that the provision also exists for members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), “but there is a slight difference, in that the payments to the members of the Island Special Constabulary Force would be calculated on basic salary, whereas (for) the JCF, the payments will be calculated on gross salaries."

Senator Nelson stated that the move brings the ISCF in line with the JCF in respect of this incentive payment.

“It is important because as you are all aware, the ISCF is now an intrinsic and invaluable law enforcement agency in the fight against crime and violence in Jamaica,” he stated.
