Delegation Going to Houston to Discuss Oil

Cabinet has given its approval for a delegation, headed by Minister of Industry, Technology, Energy and Commerce, Phillip Paulwell, to attend an oil and gas exploration meeting in Houston, Texas.
Information and Development Minister, Donald Buchanan, made the announcement yesterday (January 22), at the weekly post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.
“You would have noted in recent media reports, that there is a prediction that the possibility of a big oil find in the Pedro Bank area of our territorial waters is a distinct possibility,” he said.
“The team that is going to Houston. as part of the Jamaica’s oil and gas exploration programme, will be seeking to interest other entities involved in the gas and oil exploration area, in what we have to offer in Jamaica,” he added.
Other members of the team include: Chairman of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ), Dr. John Cooke; Group Managing Director of the PCJ, Dr. Ruth Potopsingh; and Special Projects Manager at the Corporation, Dr. Raymond Wright.
The oil and gas exploration meeting will be held between January 30 and February 1.
