Dawn Marie to Perform at Christmas Recital in New Jersey

Internationally acclaimed soprano Dawn Marie will performin a recital themed: ‘Christmas Music from Around the World’ on December 19 at the Prospect Presbyterian Church in New Jersey.
The Jamaican-born singer, who now lives in Atlanta, will thrill the audience with traditional Christmas carols, as well as songs from her eclectic repertoire of opera, spirituals, and classical arrangements of Jamaican folk music.
She will be accompanied by Dr. Richard Beckford, renowned Jamaican conductor and pianist, also a resident of Atlanta.
The concert will start at 7:00 pm and tickets are $25. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Operation Cheer Soup Kitchen Ministry in Newark, New Jersey.
Dawn-Marie has performed with the National Chorale and Orchestra of Jamaica, Jamaica School of Music, and the Jamaica Musical Theatre Company, and has represented the country at singing competitions around theworld, including Spain, Germany and Brazil.
A resident of Atlanta, Georgia, Dawn-Marie has also performed extensively with the Atlanta Opera since 1989, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Bach Choir, the Atlanta Chamber Orchestra and the Cobb Symphony Orchestra, as well as directing, arranging andchoreographing for the Caribbean folk groups ‘Boonoonoonoos’ and The Carilanta Players.
She is an artiste affiliate/vocal instructor at Agnes Scott College and the Dekalb School of the Arts.
The acclaimed soprano has won many awards, including the Edna Manley Award for Excellence in Classical Performance, and a Jamaican Music Industry Award for Best Vocal Performer in Classical Music. She was a finalist in the International Song Competition in Brazil.
