CPTC Gets $10 Million

The Creative Production and Training Centre (CPTC), has been allocated $10 million in the 2008/09 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.
This allocation will be used to purchase equipment for both the studio and the Media Technology Institute (MTI).
The CPTC is one of Jamaica’s and the Caribbean’s leading multi-media production and training facilities, offering first-class services both locally and internationally.
Located in Kingston, the publicly owned company began operations in April 1984 under the Companies Act.
The company’s operations fall within three operating divisions. They are: production (creative productions); training (the MTI); and cable Television (Creative Television – CTV).
Meanwhile, Social Welfare Services, which also falls under the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports, has received $7 million in the Estimates.
The money will be used to repair the roof and install partitions at the Women’s Centre in Kingston; repair the Mandeville Centre Day Nursery; and fence the nurseries in Savanna-la-Mar and Montego Bay.
